Chris Gall: Just Another Day on the MTA

If take the subway in NYC, you’ve probably seen some interesting art in the trains in addition to the advertising. Since 2000, the MTA has been commissioning horizontal pieces so that commuters have something interesting to look at during the ride…and in my case from Penn Station to Canal Street on the #1 train. The latest artist to interpret our daily commute is Chris Gall.
According to his website, chrisgall.com, Chris has been drawing pictures and writing stories for as long as he can remember. When he was caught drawing pictures on his desk in second grade, his teacher made him clean all the desks in the classroom. She suggested that he might be an artist someday. His artwork has been seen in almost every publication in America, including Time, Newsweek, People, Fortune, The New York Times, and the Washington Post. He loves to restore classic cars, he pilots all kinds of airplanes, and he even spent 4 years as a professional stand-up comedian.
