Taking Woodstock: A Trip Back…and Forward

I loved it…since I posted a mention to my twitter (and facebook) account that I was on my way to seeing Ang Lee’s new film “Taking Woodstock” I have received responses like “you’re gonna love it,” “let me know what you think,” and “it was awesome, wasnt’ it?” and “Don’t forget to review it!”
So here’s are my thoughts…go see it! And don’t worry if you weren’t old enough to be there…it’s as much a contemporary film about relationships and living life as much as a trip back to Max Yasgur’s farm back in the Summer of 1969
Of all the reviews, I think Roger Ebert, writing in the Chicago Sun-Times captured it best
“Not many events of 40 years ago would inspire a feature comedy. Seeing the 1970 film on a big screen in 70mm in April at Ebertfest, with an audience including many who had never seen it before, was an affirmation of how timeless those “three days of peace and music” have become. “Taking Woodstock” has the freshness of something being created, not remembered. I saw a photo the other day of the young couple shown on the original soundtrack album jacket. Still married, still with their arms around each other.”
