Foursquare Not Pleased As Yelp Adds Features

Yelp rolled out a new version of their iPhone app on Friday 1/15, introducing the ability to “check in” to a local business, alerting your friends (or your stalkers) that you are there. As you know, this is nothing new, as Gowalla and Loopt have also copied the feature that Foursquare innovated. (Loopt, however, had geolocation services long before it added the “check in” feature.)
Now usually imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but in this case it looks like Yelp even ripped-off part of the user interface. Tech Crunch has got the goods (and a screenshot) in this post.
(Updated 1/23/10 to fix dated reference.)
