Overload Slows Wireless Data

The exploding popularity of smartphones like the iPhone and the Droid have pushed wireless carriers to accelerate their plans to increase the capacity of the data connections between their cell towers and the internet.

In her Signal Strength blog on Cnet, Marguerite Reardon explains why every major wireless operator in the U.S. has had to accelerate their backhaul upgrade projects to keep up with the demand for a rapidly increasing demand for data.
