As a recognized expert on the success of this model, Mallory also emphasizes the important mutual advantages to both professionals and organizations, especially during the current economic recession.

FYI, Hundreds of thousands of children in the New York City metro area attend schools that have little or no access to the arts. Arts to Grow (ATG) seeks to remedy this inequity by offering inner-city children the chance to explore the visual, literary and performing arts. ATG has partnered with area public schools and community-based organizations to provide a variety of classes to at-risk kids and young adults between the ages of 5 and 22.

The Countdown to Summer 2010 is on and The Fresh Air Fund is in need of host families. If you or someone you know is able to host, please sign up now.

In 2009, The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family program, called Friendly Town, gave close to 5,000 New York City boys and girls, ages six to 18, free summer experiences in the country and the suburbs. Volunteer host families shared their friendship and homes FOR up to two weeks or more in 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.

The Fresh Air Fund relies on donations to provide memorable summers to NYC children.

The Fresh Air Fund needs hosts for the summer of 2010.

More than 65% of all Fresh Air children are reinvited to stay with their host family, year after year.

It was a great event and I am still getting feedback about it…including my good friend Dan Smigrod, CEO & Chief Creative Officer at GREAT! Dan has been in the media & entertainment markeing/promotion business for many years and has always been on the cutting edge of the marriage of technology and marketing….and his recent blog posting is no exception.

By December 31, 2010, a major broadcast or cable TV network and one or more national brands – or Facebook – will do for QR codes in the U.S. what American Idol did for mobile texting. If you work at a major broadcast or cable network or major U.S. consumer brand and are first (in a big, useful, powerful way), you’ll also benefit from a massive amount of traditional consumer and trade media coverage; social media and word-of-mouth buzz.

This means you need to get started – today! QR codes just took-over Times Square, reports Mashable (6/11/10). Facebook is experimenting with quick response codes, reports TechCrunch (3/16/10. Google started testing the scan code waters, also reports TechCrunch (4/7/10). Now is the time to figure-out which scan code uses makes the most sense for your business. Like Twitter, scan codes cross corporate silos. (Marketers must take the leadership role among silos so that your company takes the correct scan code path to success from day 1.)

From today’s New York Times

Comcast, the nation’s biggest cable provider, has long played hardball with competitors and content providers. Now that it is seeking control of NBC Universal in a $30 billion transaction, those competitors are piping up, expressing fears that Comcast will use its consolidated power to favor its own content and squeeze out rivals.

But one group has been noticeably silent: local television broadcasters.
