Newsletter Archive

When NY:MIEG began our newsletter was a simple email. As we grew, we moved to Yahoo Groups, started a Facebook Group, then finally moved our entire mailing list and newsletter publishing system to Constant Contact. Newsletter Update
October 16, 2008 by Bill Sobel · Leave a Comment
If you are on our mailing list you have already received two of our most recent newsletters…and might have noticed a difference…a big difference.
We are in the process of moving off of YahooGroups for both the website and the newsletter and are now using “Constant Contact” for communication with members. That said, we have been experimenting with a few different delivery ideas…some good…some not so good…so please hang in there as we are trying to get it right.
I understand many of you had a problem with a few things including the colors…this problem has since been fixed and in the next newsletter…which will be going our later today, should be much, much better.
My Best,
Bill
The Long Island Debate
October 15, 2008 by Bill Sobel · Leave a Comment
I just think it so cool that the debate took here on Long Island. I reminds me of the day back in 1987 when former CIA Director William Casey passed away. He had lived for many years down the street from my parents and the funeral took place at nearby St. Marys Church.
Not only were there police cars and secret service all over the place…but President Reagan arrived by presidential helicopter at our local town beach…how cool was that. Now here we are…21 years later…and Hofstra University was the host to what might turn out to be one of the most important and interesting debates in history…how cool is that.
L’Shana Tovah! NO NEWSLETTER THIS WEEK
October 8, 2008 by Bill Sobel · Leave a Comment
In honor of the Jewish High Holidays and observation of Yom Kippur there will be no newsletter this week.
That said, many of you who have been with us have noticed we have a new website, with special thanks to Richard Carey of Richard Carey/Associates.
As we have done in the past, we are always interested in your opinions, thoughts and suggestions.
1. How do you like our new website?
2. Did you find it easy to find?
3. Easy to navigate?
4. Easy to understand?
5. Enough information? Too much information?
6. Anything you would add? Anything you would delete?

Congratulations, if you’re reading this you’ve found our new home on the web, with many thanks to Richard Carey and his team for artfully combining sobelmedia.com, nymieg.org and my blog into one site.
We’re still in “beta” so let us know right away if something — besides a few images we haven’t replaced yet — doesn’t work. Meanwhile enjoy your visit. I look forward to seeing you at our next NY:MIEG event, Comedy and the Media, on October 23rd.

Times Square at Night
Here we are, the first week of August and typical NYC the heat here has been awful. Despite that, it has been a crazy busy week for me, and it looks like the fun is just beginning. Sunday I’m off for three days to Palo Alto, California for the first in a series of Wall Street Journal Insight Exchange Events then I come back and the following week is our Annual Summer “Author In Residence” program and next thing you know its Labor Day and we’re into September with a slate of exciting events and programs.
So…lets get started!
